Honour and Pride
There is an unwritten rule of the Space Pirates. It isn't written, yet it is followed without question by all of the others. It is about honour.
Yet, what a strange honour it is. It matters not about the means used to fight an opponent, nor does it matter about being fair. It's about preserving the pride of the Space Pirates.
Pride... a foolish pride, one which is held by all the other Pirates. It is the belief that the Pirate species, and its genome, is superior to all others.
It is this pride that blinds the other researchers, only thinking about modifying the genome, and only to a degree. More than that, and then that is no longer a true Space Pirate.
Yet, undoubtedly we are not superior. Evidence proves this; Pirate technology consists primarily of that which is stolen from others. The Chozo, the Federation, even Samus Aran.
The only things that we have truly done ourselves are our experiments with phazon. I don't even agree with it; we don't know enough about phazon to accurately use it. Yet, in spite of this High Command orders for more experiments, rather than study.
These so-called experiments consist of a disproportionate amount of luck, rather than knowledge and application of knowledge. Take the Elite Pirate Upsilon for example. The only reason it exists is because the rest of the Science Team was fortunate enough to have a specimen that had such a high tolerance for Phazon. Their statement of it being the next standard for the Pirate troops was absurd; he was a single specimen in a group numbering above 100. Not only that, but the other Elite Pirates had significantly shorter lifespans as a result of the phazon infusion; by my deductions, Upsilon likely also had little longer to live. Without phazon, my estimate is it would only last another day; this over-dependency on phazon is something I expressed, but it was little more than noted by the others.
By refusing to do more than mutate the basic Space Pirate DNA, the other researchers are effectively stopping any means of development beyond the standard adaptations. That is why I intend to fully rewrite my own DNA.
I have made a secret lab at a location I am not going to disclose. So far, testing on cell cultures appears positive, although the process will undoubtedly need to be refined.
Still, my progress thus far is actually surprising. The only issue I have is to choose what I wish to become. Ideally, I would like to try a Chozo sequence, to find out how they lived, and to increase my understanding of them. However, there is no source from which I can obtain a Chozo DNA template. I may have to visit Tallon IV again to try to find one.

Silverowl Chronicles Book 1 Prologue and Chapter 1
Prologue
I wake up at six in the morning, have breakfast with my massive family, head out to school, have lunch about noon, finish up my last few classes, go home, do my chores, eat supper, and go to bed at nine at night. I follow a strict schedule, this schedule, six days a week. The last day, I get up at seven in the morning, have breakfast with whichever members of my family have bothered to drag themselves out of bed, go to chapel, get home and have lunch, do a few heavier chores, then have the rest of my day free (supper is eaten whenever we feel like it, but we have to make our own); I usually head to bed around nine or ten. Ok, ok... Browsing Chipmuck is being a tag artist and tagged me so I guess I have to answer.
1. If you could draw/write/create one specific subject matter for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Hmm... I would pick... Transformation. Too many things, sub themes, implications etc that it would be fascinating.
2. What would you say your greatest strength is as an artist?
My patience... heheehee, well it took me almost 39 years to get my stories actually written.
3. What would you say your greatest struggle is as an artist?
Struggle? Actually finding time to put fingers to keyboard, but in a way it helps. Then I have time to hash th

Elf King Chapter 01
Storm clouds gathered within the sky. The sun shone through the single mouth of the darkness, shining on the coronation chamber. On occasion, the spires of the sages would be struck by a wayward lightning bolt, but no power came of it, it wasn't yet time for the event.
Sebastian sat in the chamber, waiting for the coronation. The last king was unjustly slain. On that day, Sebastian and his wife, Ilena, had been invited to feast with the king. This feast also served to unite the greater knights, Sir Nameless among them, to strategize. A threat from the people of a nearby land sang bitterly for their people and rumors said the heathens comman

The second of Aqua's logs of her project, written from Aqua's perspective of course. Chronologically, I think this would take place between Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2.
Aqua was once a Space Pirate, but she eventually came to seek out knowledge, valuing the understanding of the work of the predecessors, the Chozo and the Luminoth in particular, rather than belittling them as the other pirates usually do.
I guess the nature of this log kind of needs a disclaimer... the views of Aqua are of the High Command and the Science Team of the Space Pirates; it's not reflective in any way of real life.
