Light cannot exist without darkness

Although Crystal herself would never admit it, she did have darkness in her heart. Why wouldn't she? An unknown length of time spent alone is enough time for darkness to fester. Anger, and spite, among other things. However, Crystal was strong, and cast it out of herself, but that only served to give birth to Dark Crystal in another form.

In a long forgotten temple, Dark Crystal would bring herself to exist. Unlike Crystal, who has no innate power, Dark Crystal would use the collected darkness and change it into power, giving her a body, among other things.

Dark Crystal has five gemstones upon her body. Her forehead gemstone holds power akin to a chaos emerald in strength and use. Her other four gemstones can be used in a variety of ways by her. She can attune them to a specific force, and use that in a strong offence. She can attune herself up to two forces at the same time, of which two gems will be to each force.

A few examples.
Fire: If Dark Crystal uses fire in her hands and feet, her punches and kicks become wreathed in flame, and have as much force behind them as Knuckle's strikes.
Darkness: Used primarily on her gloves, and it allows Dark Crystal to weave webs of shadow to ensnare enemies. On her feet, it allows her to visually sink into shadows and she can pop up in others.

In addition, she can create weapons based on the force her glove gemstones hold, such as a sword of fire, or a lightning rifle.

This innate power within her does imply that Dark Crystal would be stronger than Crystal under normal circumstances in conflict. However, like everything, power comes at a price. Dark Crystal is irrevocably tied to Crystal with her life. If Crystal is hurt or falls unconscious in conflict, Dark Crystal likewise is effected in the same manner, to the level where if Crystal dies, Dark Crystal would die. Ironically, the reverse isn't true; Crystal doesn't feel anything Dark Crystal does. That is just another reason why Dark Crystal loathes Crystal.

Dark Crystal's goal is to simply sever that bond, and to cause havoc. It is to abase her feelings, which happens to be Crystal's darkest desire during those years spent in solitude.
